Jan Dara grows up in a house lacking in love but abundant in lust. He quickly picks up the sinful way of life of the man who married his mother after she became pregnant from being raped. His ‘father’s’ mistress welcomes the young boy into her literal bosom. Wanting badly to know his real father, Jan leaves the house, only coming back after Khun Luang’s daughter falls pregnant out of wedlock. Jan does a favor to his ‘father’ by marrying her, even though he is deeply in love with the mistress. The truth about his birth, as Jan will later learn, is as confusing and messed up as his present life and the lives of those around him.

Recommended subject areas for study:

Family — typical family drama plots, the hate, the love - basically a soap opera, there’s a viciousness in his family environment that leads to basically unhappy people all round most of the time.

Lesbianism — Lesbianism was shown in the movie between Kaew and Boonlueang.

Battle of the sexes – equality is always an issue when it comes to sexes, women again are inferior in this movie and often times mistreated specially when it comes to sexual aspect.

Wealth – commonly when you have the money you can have anything and everything you want in life therefore with this movie Khun Luang have everything he wants specially sexual pleasures because of his wealth.

Power – always associated with wealth, Khun Luang have great power cause of his wealth again advantage of getting everything he wants.

Lust — The movie is about Jan’s early life, and particularly about his early sexual experiences - and the sexual experiences of everyone around him for that matter. The characters here hop into and out of each others beds with such frequency and complexity that it’s like they’re the pieces in a game of sex-chess or something. Talk about complicated sexual relationships in the film.

Love – intertwined with lust which was very evident in this movie.

Homosexuality – like lesbianism portrayed by characters Kaew and Boonlueang

Society – as always, society would always be playing a major role in one’s life. Stereotyping and what society says would always be followed.

Audience Stability:

R18

Cinematic Focus:

Character Driven – revolving around Jan, and how he journeyed through his life making a line between love and lust. Jan Dara’s sexual experiences from her sister’s nanny, mistress of his father who taught him well as the story progress.
